30 Year Anniversary!

2021 has been the year of celebration for the Kardinya Toy Library (Kulungah Myah Toy Library Inc).    In May 2021, it celebrated its 30 year Anniversary!   This was acknowledged with a beautiful and very joyful morning tea and pop-up play date.   Member families and their friends enjoyed a range of activities including a guinea pig encounter, face painting and giant bubbles, as well as the chance to explore the wide range of toys available.

$30,000 Department of Communities Grant

It has been an amazing year for the toy library in another important way.   The McGowan State Government provided the toy library with a $30,000 grant in June 2021.

The grant has helped the toy library:

  • acquire new, curated and high quality toys which will engage, delight and educate.
  • install new storage and acquire a new laptop and online data base
  • retain its current membership and recruit new members.
  • meet the its broader vision and community values.

Youth Volunteer Program

As you can imagine, installing new toys, equipment, and storage has been a massive undertaking.  Help has been enlisted however from students at local schools Corpus Christi and Iona Presentation College wanting to complete community service hours.   Local teens seeking an opportunity to build upon their ‘work ready’ skills have also freely given their time and energy.  They’ve unpacked boxes, constructed and labelled toys, and assisted with cleaning and storage.  It has been a dedicated and inspired effort all round!
